I've been trouble shooting an issue with the Live Meeting client not connecting to an OCS 2007 AV Edge server over the internet. Web conferencing works fine internally but from the outside it fails to connect. In the process I have learned that there is a fair bit of client side logging available for both the Office Communicator 2007 and Live Meeting 2007 client.
The first step is to enable the client side logging.
To enable logging in the Communicator client you need to set these two registry dword values:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Tracing\UcClient\Communicator\EnableTracing = 1
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Tracing\uccp\Communicator\EnableTracing = 1
To enable logging in the Live Meeting client you need to set these two:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Tracing\uccp\ConfAPI\EnableTracing = 1
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Tracing\uccp\LiveMeeting\EnableTracing = 1
Once these are enabled client side logs will be created in the directory specified by the FileDirectory value in each relevant key. By default these are all set to %userprofile%\Tracing
Chad Lacy points out that there is another useful log for troubleshooting the live meeting console. This is called pwconsole-debugXX.txt where XX is a two digit number. For reasons that escape me the default location for this log is %temp%.
